JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Crowd Simulation Modeler at NSC, you will have the opportunity to work remotely, with fixed working hours from 7AM to 4PM Vietnam time (the rest is flexible).
We are looking for a Crowd Simulation Modeler with experience in MassMotion and/or AnyLogic to support a short-term project focused on people movement simulation and model calibration. In this role, you will work with measured crowd data to help build and calibrate agent-based simulation models that replicate real-world movement patterns. The simulation will be used to validate a baseline virtual model and analyze pedestrian flow, density, occupancy, and queue behaviour.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with crowd or pedestrian simulation tools and is comfortable translating real-world observations into simulation parameters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and refine crowd and pedestrian flow simulations using MassMotion and/or AnyLogic
- Convert measured entry data into time-based arrival profiles for simulation scenarios
- Interpret dwell patterns and movement behaviours to configure agent parameters
- Define routing logic between zones within the simulation environment
- Configure queue systems and service time distributions
- Support the calibration of simulation outputs such as:
– Occupancy
– Density
– Queue formation
– Pedestrian flow patterns against observed real-world data - Assist in validating baseline simulation models
- Run scenario and sensitivity testing under different conditions (e.g., varying demand or staffing levels)
- Document modelling assumptions, parameters, and simulation results
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to review simulation outcomes
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Skills & Qualifications
- 2-5 years of experience in simulation modelling, crowd modelling, or agent-based modelling
- Hands-on experience with MassMotion and/or AnyLogic
- Experience working with data-driven simulation models
- Basic understanding of:
– Pedestrian flow dynamics
– Agent-based modelling
– Routing behaviour
– Queue modelling - Ability to translate observed or measured data into simulation parameters
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a project-based environment
- Professional working proficiency in English
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Experience
- Experience in transport infrastructure, airports, stadiums, shopping malls, or urban planning projects
- Background in transport engineering, urban planning, operations research, or data analysis
- Experience working with simulation model validation
- Familiarity with Python, data analysis, or statistical modelling
